For over two decades, Visions has been an exclusive visual arts program that has been offered to Valley teens. In collaboration with six secondary schools, students attend monthly workshops led by professional artists, visit universities, and take part in exhibitions hosted by SMoCA. The classroom wasn't the only place where art was created. The participating Visions students also attended workshops organized by artists from around the valley, such as Mary Meyer and Bauer.
The students also took a weekend trip to Prescott to attend a weekend art camp. Most years, Visions students visit university art exhibitions and departments, attend workshops and talks in galleries by prominent local and national artists, collaborate on artistic projects, participate in communication workshops and debates on diversity, and exhibit their work at the Center Space gallery of Scottsdale Arts at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Since 1999, the program is based on a strong community partnership between Scottsdale Arts and participating schools that represent economically, ethnically, and culturally diverse communities. Scottsdale Arts presents art as an integral part of the Scottsdale experience, providing opportunities for residents and visitors to experience the highest quality performing and visual arts the world has to offer.
It also identifies emerging artistic talent and provides a place for its expression. The Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Scottsdale Performing Arts Center, and Scottsdale Public Art are divisions of Scottsdale Arts. Visions '21 features 34 works of art by local high school students participating in Scottsdale Arts Learning's Visions & Innovation program. This program is an incredible opportunity for Valley teens to explore their creative side and hone their artistic talents.
